The Aerospace Engineering Club at Basis Independent Brooklyn is a student-led organization dedicated to hands-on aerospace design and experimentation.
Our members collaborate on a single large-scale project each year that combines creativity, engineering, and problem-solving. This year’s project focused on building a model wind tunnel to support future aerospace education and experimentation. The club fosters teamwork, technical skill development, and an environment where students can explore their passion for flight and design.
As President, I guided the club through the design and construction of our model wind tunnel, overseeing every stage from concept design to building. I fostered teamwork and ensured that each decision balanced creativity with precision.
I organized weekly meetings, set project goals, and coordinated responsibilities across the team. This structure kept everyone aligned and allowed us to meet milestones efficiently while encouraging open communication.
Through active outreach , I successfully doubled the club’s membership, bringing in students with a wide range of interests and skills. The result was a stronger, more dynamic community centered on shared curiosity for engineering.
I mentored younger members on design strategy, safety, and hands-on construction, helping them build technical confidence and leadership skills. My goal was to prepare them to continue the club’s mission long after my term.
