Hi, I'm Sefir (Sefi). I'm a junior-level student at Hofstra University, studying Bioengineering with a Pre-Med concentration. My academic interests lie within biomechatronics, materials engineering, and neuroengineering, with a focus on how advanced materials can be used to improve bionics and neural interfaces. My research interests center on smart and self-healing biomaterials, soft bioelectronics, DNA origami inspired biointerfaces, and neuroprosthetic systems that better adapt to and integrate with the human body.

So far, my experience in engineering has allowed me to build and design various machines while developing leadership skills. My exposure to leadership roles has allowed me to strengthen my problem-solving abilities and passion for bettering people's lives. All of this has promoted my want to use engineering to create solutions that will help solve problems spanning social issues all the way to people's health.

I want to build technology that can help restore movement, sensation, and independence for people with limb loss, paralysis, or neurological injury. My goal is to work on bionics that do not just function as external devices, but better communicate with the nervous system, adapt to the body, and feel more natural to the person using them.
